As the UK drives to meet Clean Power 30 (47GW) and Clean Power 35 (23GW) government set quotas for Solar PV as part of the grid reform and its Net Zero targets the availability of the right land becomes increasingly restricted.  For landowners, whilst a solar farm  creates an opportunity to generate dependable, long-term income that can support the future of rural businesses the opportunity, until the government revises those targets upwards is now rare. But the opportunity to provide a solar farm to a specific corporate entity is available and this is where ILOS specialises, and is actively seeking land near industrial sites, datacentres or housing developments and other intensive energy users.

ILOS works with landowners across the UK to develop solar and battery storage on suitable sites. We offer more than a standard lease. We structure partnerships that create stable returns, support the long-term resilience of farming businesses, and reflect the value of well-positioned land.

For a suitable site, with at least 60 acres of usable land and access to a viable grid connection, your land could earn more than £1,000 per acre per year for up to 40 years.

Solar can provide a stable income stream alongside existing farming operations and long-term estate planning. For many landowners, it offers the opportunity to strengthen cash flow, support succession planning, reduce exposure to agricultural price volatility, and retain flexibility across the wider business.

Where capital is needed, ILOS may also be able to structure an upfront payment towards immediate funding requirements.

The benefits of leasing land for solar are not only financial. Well-designed projects support a more restorative approach to land management, allowing land to recover from intensive use and can create space for biodiversity to flourish.
